Mount Wachusett Community College, in Gardner MA offers a 2-year program for Graphic and Interactive Designer students. This final course in the GID program helps students assemble and present their best work produced in the program. I like how the use of shadows in the letters and images brings the whole project together to create a form of suspense. However, that black line that goes beyond the page color is sort of bugging me.
Daniel - the strengths here seem to be the clever concept of magnifying glass unifying the shapes of the man and the test tube bottle. Question: Is this, in fact, a shape of a scientific beaker? That would be important... to make sure it is based on a real glass container shape. Also - the shadow that connects the man to the bubbles... would a gradient blend (dark grey to light grey) lighten it up and help add contrast to the design? Lastly... I wonder if you would want to add the words "Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math" somewhere in the design... so the poster would be used for increasing awareness of that collection of courses?
The contrast is great, the shadow is a great concept. The only suggestion I have is skewing the shadow to look thinner to create more depth between the beaker and the man.
