Project 8- Daniel Hurst

  1. I like the colors and the use of line throughout. The images appear to be squished, I would try to make sure they are all full width, even if that means they are a smaller scale over all. There are some inconsistencies with the typography; the cover features a sans serif font but that seems to be absent in the rest of the booklet. I would advise against the sans serif chosen for the cover because it seems to similar to Arial, perhaps see if you can find something a bit more unique (even if it's still a sans serif) and then incorporate it into the headings of the pages (and strokes on type can actually make it more difficult to read so I would avoid that as well).

  2. This is a pretty comprehensive project to take on at this point in the class, I think. Because this was an early project in the program, it has lots of room to grow and improve... but that will take some time. If you need this project in your portfolio, I would suggest you simply rework the cover. Then, if you still have time in the semester, you can add pages. To start the rework, I would ask you to answer these questions "What is your concept? Who is your audience? What imagery would you like to use on the cover to support that concept?" With your improved skills this cover could/should be rethought from ground up.
