Project 4 rework- Daniel Hurst

I made the background blue a bit lighter. Got rid of a border that separated the different pages and fixed up the images so they are all the same.

  1. I like the changes. I want to reiterate one thing that still sticks out to me which is that the map of California has a darker colored bar through the center of it. Was there a reason you left it there? I would say either remove the bar and just have the light blue with the map behind it the whole way or map the bar opaque like on the other frames and just have part of the map be hidden under it.

  2. This is a complicated piece, with many panels and lots of text. Consistency is the name of the game, and is something I don't see enough of here with the numbered panels (1 thru 6). Here are some suggestions:

Because you are using many different team logos here I would suggest you simply run them along the bottom of each panel, just like I see you have done in panel 1, 3, and 5. Those panes are nicely designed, with negative space surrounding the content well - and nothing looks crashed or crowded. Please rework panels 2,4 and 6 to match this layout. They all have problems that are not easily solved... so why make a change? Follow the same layout for each panel, and the reader will thank you for it.

The map of California creates a readability problem on its panel - have you considered moving it to a less busy panel... like the list of Tours?

I'm curious about the background and border colors you have chosen? Usually, I look into my photos for colors that already exist inside of them. Have you considered using a green from the field in your photo to replace that (still) overly bright and saturated mid-tone blue? Color placed behind type should not be interfering with the type itself... it should not be what we notice... but rather a subtle addition to the layout.

Looking forward to seeing how this evolves!
