The University of Mass Press asked me to design a book cover for a work of fiction. The story is told by a women accused of child abuse (her own child), and who felt that her testimony and statements were not understood. She felt strangled by the authorities surrounding her. Which do you think they chose?

  1. I believe that they chose the first one.

  2. I would say they chose the first one. The colors seem to go together and the type layout seems to fit the best in the first one.

  3. I think the client chose the second book cover.

  4. I would say the first one is the strongest and the one that more clearly displays the message desired.

  5. I think they chose the first option where as compared to the other options because of the composition of the image and the texts, as well as the image quality and non filter seem more visible and can focus on the imagery.

  6. I believe the second cover was chosen. The image is striking in all of them but the second one with the filter makes it much more unsettling and eye catching which is important in a book cover. The text has looks different and reminds me of something out of a detective show on Investigation Discovery.

  7. I think the first one, greater emphasis on the hands and no harsh lines attracting too much attention away from focus
